Privacy Policy
Your privacy is core to how this tool works. This page explains, in plain language, what happens when you use LookForScam.
The most important point
When you paste a message, email, or link into the checker, the text is analyzed entirely inside your own browser. It is not uploaded to our server and it is not stored. We do not keep a copy of what you paste, and we cannot read it.
Information we do not collect
- We do not store the text or links you analyze.
- We do not require an account, and we do not collect your name, email, or any personal details to use the tool.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider may record standard, anonymous technical logs (such as approximate time of visit and anonymized IP) for security and abuse-prevention. These are not linked to anything you paste.
Link checks (a future update)
In a later update the tool may check links against a reputation service to warn about known-malicious URLs. If so, only a hashed representation of the link would be checked — never the full message around it, and never anything that identifies you.
Site configuration
Settings entered via the admin panel — such as the AdSense publisher ID, API keys, and Search Console verification token — are stored on the server to operate the site. This never includes anything you paste into the checker.
Cookies and advertising
If advertising is enabled, third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit. You can opt out of personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings, and manage cookies through your browser settings.
Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the tool evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a revised date.
